SUMMARY:Bio360 Africa – in a Nutshell
DESCRIPTION:Bio360 Africa is a new event dedicated to accelerating the uptake of sustainable bioenergy across Africa.\nBuilding on the success of Bio360 in Nantes, France, Bio360 Africa will bring together stakeholders from farmers to investors, startups to public bodies, to foster collaboration, innovation, and growth in the African bioenergy sector.\nEvent Objectives\n\nEstablish an annual, high-impact bioenergy platform in Africa\nPromote cross-continental partnerships and knowledge exchange\nShowcase innovations in bioenergy, circular economy, biogas, biofuels, carbon capture, and sustainable transport\nEngage youth and emerging professionals through dedicated side events\nSupport policies, finance access, and capacity-building for a sustainable bioeconomy\n\nEvent Format\n\nTwo-day conference and exhibition, 17th and 18th June, featuring:\n\n60+ exhibitors with booths and tabletop displays\nTwo simultaneous conference streams with plenaries, keynotes, expert panels\nNetworking and B2B meetings\nPress conference and media engagement\n1000+ participants\n\n\nSide Events\nStudy tours scheduled for Friday 19 June.\n\nBio360 Africa – be a part of the movement !\nWe are keen to hear from actors from across the bioenergy spectrum who feel you may have something to say, something to bring to the table that can advance understanding and provide inspiration for others.\nProject developers, technology and service providers, financiers, public policy and institutional decision makers … success breeds success and there are numerous and a growing number of sustainable bioenergy success stories across Africa that we will be looking to put in the limelight in Johannesburg in June next year.\nYou could be one of them, so please get in touch here and let us know !\n\nBio360 Africa – themes & focus areas\nThemes & Focus Areas\n\nBioenergy: Biogas, biomethane, biohydrogen, biofuels, solid biomass, applications off-grid, grid-connected, self-consumption\nBioeconomy: Circular economy, integration with agriculture\nCarbon Management: BECCUS, carbon removal, carbon finance\nSustainable Transport\nCross-cutting themes: Policy, finance, capacity building\nRegional Focus: African bioenergy sector insights\n\nThe Bioenergy Sector in Africa: From Tradition to Transition\nBioenergy remains central to energy access in Africa, where the vast majority of the population continues to depend on traditional biomass—mainly firewood, charcoal, and agricultural residues—for cooking and heating. These fuels are typically used in open fires or inefficient stoves, resulting in high levels of indoor air pollution, respiratory illnesses, and a heavy burden on women and children who are responsible for fuel collection. This widespread traditional use contributes significantly to forest degradation and climate change due to unsustainable harvesting practices and low combustion efficiency.\nBioenergy encompasses many potential feedstocks, conversion processes and energy applications. It interacts strongly with the agriculture, forestry and waste management sectors, and its prospects are linked to the growth of a broader bioeconomy. Bioenergy can only expand if supplied and used in a sustainable manner.\nModern bioenergy solutions use advanced technologies to efficiently and sustainably convert biomass—such as wood and wood residues, energy crops, agricultural and crop residues, and organic waste from industries, agriculture, landscape management, and households—into solid, liquid or gaseous fuels that can be used to produce heat and/or electricity or can be used as a transport fuel. These innovative systems are steadily gaining ground in Africa, providing cleaner, more sustainable alternatives.\nThe resource is often located in remote or rural areas, outside urban centers, where reliable power supply is frequently needed.  This creates valuable opportunities for agro-industries, often located at the end of a power line and frequently affected by brownouts to generate their own electricity or even sell surplus power back to the grid.\nBuilding on success stories and accelerating the roll out of modern bioenergy brings multiple climate and societal benefits in all regions of the world. The ambition of Bio360 Africa is to act as a catalyser and to accelerate the uptake of bioenergy across the African continent.\n \n\nBio360 Europe – Nantes, France\nBio360 Europe, France is our flagship event welcoming 450 exhibitors, 6000 pariticipants, 45 countries and 200 conference speakers, all engaged in accelerating the Biotransition.\nThe 2026 edition took place place in Nantes, France on 11-12 February 2026 where both Africa and South Africa were in the spotlight.\n– Africa Day : a day of conferences dedicated to accelerating the uptake of bioenergy and the bioeconomy across Africa\n– South Africa Pavilion : 5 South African exhibitors in the spotlight in collaboration with the DTIC and SABIA\nOur Bio360 community from across the globe, spans the full sectoral coverage of the event, encompassing representatives from the bioenergy and bioeconomy industries, public bodies, policy makers, agriculture and forestry, waste mangement, finance and insurance, federations and associations, research and development, media and press.\nRevisit Bio360 Europe 2025\n– the Exhibitors ( https://www.bio360expo.com/ExhibitorList/560?ps=48&lang=EN&view=cards&columns=4 )\n– the Speakers ( https://www.bio360expo.com/FindSpeakers/560?aid=1436 )\n– the Conference Program ( https://www.bio360expo.com/ConferenceList.aspx?eid=560&aid=1440&date=all&topic=&language=en&view=thumbnails )\n– the Conference Presentations ( https://www.bio360expo.com/Page/1459 )\n– the Photos ( https://montpeyroux.net/telechargement/bees/Bio360-2025_Photo-Album.zip )\n
